What does the name “Oikonomos” mean?
Oikonomos is the Greek word for stewardship.
In Matthew 25 of the Bible, Jesus tells the parable of the talents and the faithful stewards who were entrusted to care for their master’s assets:
“For it is just like a man about to go on a journey. He called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent, depending on each one’s ability. Then he went on a journey. Immediately the man who had received five talents went, put them to work, and earned five more….

What are the hosting specs and limits?

Every Oikonomos website care plan includes the following hosting specs:

- Up to 50,000 visits per month

- 5,000 transactional (notification) emails per month
Websites that consistently exceed these maximums can be upgraded to a custom plan.
Do I have to host my website with Oikonomos?
Our maintenance plan includes premium managed hosting so we can guarantee reliability, nightly backups, and fast recovery if something goes wrong. With rare exception, we require clients to migrate their website to our hosting environment to join our stewardship program.
But don’t worry: we make the migration easy on you. Our low one-time migration fee, when applicable, covers the time it takes to coordinate with existing vendors and ensure a seamless transition to Oikonomos. And in certain circumstances, we can waive the migration fee altogether. Reach out today and we’ll discuss what the best option is for your situation.
What kinds of websites do you support?
We specialize in WordPress website hosting and management for businesses, consultants, and organizations of all sizes.
We do offer website conversion services for those currently on DIY platforms such as Wix, SquareSpace, Weebly or Webflow that want to move to WordPress. If your website is on another platform, reach out today, let us know the details, and we’ll confirm whether it’s a good fit for our services.
What happens if someone I've approved breaks my website?
If an update by one of your approved users or vendors ever causes an issue or accidentally breaks the site, just reach out and we’ll restore your website from backup promptly. We’re not here to judge; everyone makes mistakes!
Do you offer Google Analytics support?
Yes, we can install your existing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) snippet on your website or create a new snippet for you. Those on our Plus, Priority and Premier Plans receive additional support with implementing event triggers and conversion pixels.
Ongoing reporting, analysis, third-party site installations and other advanced configuration requests fall outside our scope of services.
What if my website uses custom plugins?
Oikonomos fully supports core WordPress features, plugins available in the public WordPress repository, and widely used licensed plugins (you are responsible for maintaining an active license unless it’s covered by our Plus, Priority or Premier plan allowance).
Some WordPress sites rely on custom plugins for unique functionality, and we understand how important those tools can be. Because custom plugins vary in how they’re built and maintained, they fall outside the scope of our standard website care plan.
If your site includes custom plugins, we’ll:
- Keep them backed up and secure as part of your overall site care.
- Let you know if any updates or issues appear to affect them.
- Coordinate with your developer or plugin author if specialized support is needed.
- Where possible, we may recommend alternative plugins that are more consistently maintained.
Our goal is to protect your site’s integrity while ensuring every part of it—custom or not—remains stable and well cared for.
Do you provide SEO or marketing services?
No, Oikonomos does not provide marketing, advertising, paid media, earned media, social media, SEO, GEO, AEO or other related services. We focus exclusively on independent WordPress website management and care: all the technical behind-the-scenes work your site needs to stay secure and dependable.
You can work with any SEO, marketing, or development team you like; we’ll make sure your site stays healthy behind the scenes.
Do you help with design or development changes?
Based on your plan level, we include a certain number of quick technical fixes and content edits each month. A quick technical fix is something that takes our stewardship team 15 minutes or less to complete. This may include things like responsive fixes, small layout tweaks, resolving error notices, or troubleshooting display issues. Content edits include updates that take our stewardship team 30 minutes or less to complete, such as posting a new blog, text edits, adding a new team member, image swaps and the like.
Larger design or development projects can be coordinated with your marketing agency or developer. This allows us to stay focused on reliable website care and maintenance.
If you don’t have a dedicated resource, but need a small project completed, we do offer blocks of Steward Hours for purchase. Steward Hours must be purchased in blocks of 5 and expire after 90 days. These hours can be used for smaller one-time projects like new landing pages, bulk content and image edits, or working through recommended accessibility, structured data or other issues found during your site analysis.
What can I use Steward Hours for?
If you don’t have a dedicated development resource but need a small one-time project completed, Steward Hours are a great option.
Steward Hours can be used for smaller one-time projects such as:
- adding new landing or service pages
- bulk content and image edits
- working through recommended accessibility, structured data or other issues found during your site analysis
- adding new team members, project portfolio items, courses, or products
- implementing sweeping SEO changes provided by your vendor
- Backup support to your existing developer

Steward Hours do not cover copywriting, graphic design, SEO research, Google Ads campaigns, market research, or other common marketing or advertising tasks.
Can Oikonomos help me with photo editing?
We don’t provide photo or graphic design services. Our focus is on caring for your website: keeping it secure, updated, and running reliably. For detailed image editing or design work, we recommend working with a graphic designer or using a tool like Canva to create and edit visuals before uploading them to your site.
But, if you need help with image optimization for site speed (like resizing or compressing images to improve load times), or to swap out images as part of your monthly content updates, we’re happy to handle that!
Can you make my website accessible?
Oikonomos does not make accessibility-related updates during routine maintenance, and cannot guarantee 100% compliance with accessibility standards (like WCAG) for any website under our care.
That said, we fully support making a more accessible web! If you discover an issue you’d like fixed, you can submit it as one of your monthly included technical fixes or content edits and we’ll be happy to make the change.
For those committed to improving their website accessibility, we recommend signing up for a PopeTech account and using their tool to scan your website for issues and monitor it regularly for changes. Clients on our Priority and Premier Plans receive this monitoring at no extra cost.
What if my website gets hacked?
Security is one of our top priorities. We monitor for vulnerabilities and apply patches to proactively prevent hackers from gaining entry to your website.
To be honest, it’s never happened before, but if your website is ever compromised under our care, we’ll restore from backup, find and secure the vulnerability, and credit you for a month of service.
Please note that this credit is not applicable for sites compromised due to client or vendor negligence. It’s vitally important that you know who can access your site, alert us immediately to any employee or vendor changes, and that all those with access keep their password updated regularly.
Can you work with my current agency or developer?
Absolutely! We’re built to collaborate, not compete. Your marketing, SEO and/ development partners handle the growth and creative work; we handle the technical upkeep that protects their efforts. Everyone wins!
How does billing work?
Upon signup, you’ll pay one flat monthly fee through our automated billing platform—no extra charges or hidden costs.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. There are no long-term contracts with Oikonomos. If you ever choose to leave, we ask for a 15-day notice to give us time to help you transition smoothly. We’ll provide a clean handoff of your website files, domain records and credentials so you remain fully in control of your website.
We are of the firm belief that you are the owner of your website, we are simply stewards of it. And we will always support what’s in your best interest, even if that means leaving our care.
